Vaňkovka Gallery shopping and social center was festively opened on 23 March 2005. It was built on the area of 28,800 m2 on the borders of historic downtown of Brno, directly between the train station and the bus station.
There are 130 shopping units with the total sales area of 37,000 m2 located alongside the glazed shopping arcade in the first and the second floor. The next two floors contain 1,000 parking spaces and technical hinterland. Two foot bridges with total length of 130m are directly connected to the arcade. During the construction, 23,500 m2 of walkways, roads and green areas have been newly modified and 95 full-grown trees were planted.
Vaňkovka Gallery is operated by ECE, German family company, which manages around 200 shopping centers and thus is the number one on the European market. It has been planning, realizing, renting, managing and operating large shopping centers and other real estate for more than fifty years. The total turnover of all centers is around 23 billion euros per year and there are more than 4,3 million visitors every day in all ECE centers. Many new centers are currently planned or already under construction. ECE is active in 16 countries, for example in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Spain, Turkey, Slovakia and in many others.
ECE remains loyal to the places where its centers were built. And that is the reason why many centers have been managed by ECE for more than fifty years. In its centers, ECE offers everything; from groceries to fashion, consumer electronics, entertainment, gastronomy or services and thus creates a very attractive mix of shops, in which even regional retailers and enterpreneurs can be partners.
